January 3rd, 2009 · 3 Comments

Well, Chris and I are back from sunny beautiful Mexico… and LA is COLD.  Well at least the sun is shining now… Honeymoon was great, we’re still alive, and probably a little heavier due to awesome cruise food!

But the point of this post is show Andrew Lin’s (one of our awesome photographers) pictures from his blog. My favorite is the last one. :)  Browse, enjoy. Peace out. :)

annnnnd we’re done!

December 25th, 2008 · 1 Comment

woo hoo!  So Chris and I have been internetless at our new apartment, so we haven’t had a chance to update at all since we got married. But now as we’re spending Christmas at with the Wu’s (Chris’ family), we have connection to the outside world! YAY!

There’s so many things that we could say about how our wedding day went. I was thinking about making a Top 10 list of things that were NOT happy, or things that I wish were different. OR a list of the Top 10 MOST AWESOME THINGS… but that would require too much thinking.

Really, what it boils down to is an overwhelming feeling of thankfulness. Ultimately, PRAISE GOD for getting us through the day.  Everything totally worked out accordning to His plans.  But secondly, we feel so thankful to everyone who helped out.  It is so easy to be greatful with the kind of friends that we have.  So this is the kind of list I have.  People we are thankful for. :) In no particular order.

1. Janice: pretty much every time she wasn’t with me at the wedding, I would draw a blank as to what we should have been doing.  When should we go to the church? *shrug* When should we go to the reception? *shrug* Janice knew were everything was supposed to be and when it was supposed to be there.  Plus, she saved the day when I couldn’t get our first dance song authorized on James’ computer.  Janice to the rescue!  I dunno how stressed out she was that day, but everything turned out fabulous.

2. Juliana, as Janice’s assistant: She got roped into helping rather late, but totally came through running around doing all sorts of random errands.  AND! She was the one who got the new dress for my sister to wear.  She took care of a lot of stuff, a lot of the little necessary things.  She was a big help. :)

3. My bridesmaids, Steph, Jen, Joanna, Jessica and Jenny: To be honest, I was pretty bummed that none of my bridesmaids lived close enough to be around all the time.  But they all put in a lot of effort right down to the wire.  They made the stressful stuff at the end still fun, and still kept me relaxed when I was grumpy and freaking out. Especially during the Crisis of the Missing Bridesmaid/Dress. Way to come up with good solutions and to kept a smile on their faces.

Man. I’m tired. :) I will continue my thanksgivings later on.  But really, Chris and I will always be greatful for all the help and support from our friends and family.

P.S. Pictures hate me… I wanted to post a few from people, but not. Wordpress hates me. sad.

Don’t Be Lame. Dance.

December 14th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Friends and Family,

I wanted to announce ahead of time that there will be dancing at our wedding. Let me take a couple of seconds away from our time of planning, and exhort each and everyone of ya’ll to dance. We’re also going to play a couple of slow-songs during the banquet. It might be the perfect opportunity for you GUYS to ask a lady to a nice dance. DO IT. Don’t Be Lame. Muster up some courage and ask that lady for a dance and who knows…

Who knows, you might just hear this song! It’s a classic.

crunch time.

December 10th, 2008 · 3 Comments

or, similarly, “stress time”.

Well, folks we are quickly approaching the 10-days-out mark.  Who would have thought this year would have gone by so quickly?  I dunno about Chris, but I’m definitely regretting the days in the summer when I put off doing wedding things since “I have so much time left”.  Really, there is no time. :)  However, I’m not too stressed.  Perhaps I compartmentalize well.  However, it has been really busy with all the last minute details to catch up on, people to call, things to double check, schedules to make, things to move (to our new apartment!)… and oh yeah! Chris is finishing his LAST SEMESTER OF SEMINARY as we speak! And as always, I have teaching and BTSA, and Sunday School things to occupy my mind as well.  Maybe we were not thinking that clearly when we decided to get married in December.

Well, whatever I may have wished to change about this planning process, I am THANKFUL that there are only 10 days left!  We’re almost married! Whoo HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I was trying to find an adaquate music video to post, since Chris already took “Let’s Get Married”, but the only one I could think of was Shinhwa’s “Your Wedding”… in which they sing about seeing their first love getting married to their friend. So! Not appropriate. :P Instead, you get this….

you know you love it. bring back those memories! and yes… I do love the regular English version, but the Spanish version is like….. *love* (and any JC fans, youtube the live version from the Latin Grammys… cuuuuute. :P)

Folks,

It’s not too late to send in/hand in your RSVP. We’re still accepting them. However, any later, and you will be docked a couple of points.

Or I guess in this case, we’ll just sit you farther and farther away from the action.

Wedding Day Draws Closer

November 5th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I just realized that the wedding is approaching. Recently, Sabrina and I were praying, and it dawned on us that the date is fast approaching. When we first got engaged, we were thinking, “Oh, it’s like a year away. No worries. Plenty of time.”

‘Lo and behold! It’s less than a month and a half away! Egad! I’m not worried (well, I can’t speak for Sabrina) but I’m not anxious. I think we’re both very excited about our future. It’s not so much about the wedding itself, but at the future–the future that God has planned and prepared. I think without that faith in the Lord, a lot of worries would be at the front of our hearts and minds. We would endlessly worry about the future! Reflecting on the Lord’s planning, the wedding comes at the right time. I’ll be done with TMS and I won’t have to drive back and forth. I’m ready to settle down and grow some roots. The Lord is just sovereign; there is a right time for everything.

Any way, I was reminded of Ecc 3:1-8.

[1] There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven–

[2] A time to give birth and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.

[3] A time to kill and a time to heal; A time to tear down and a time to build up.

[4] A time to to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.

[5] A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.

[6] A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away.

[7] A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; A time to be silent and a time to speak.

[8] A time to love and a time to hate; A time for war and a time for peace.

People! Friends and Family! Lend me your ears,

As you return the RSVP cards, I want to bring to your attention the bottom line that requests from you some songs that’d you’d like to hear (maybe hear pending reviews). Don’t be lame and return it to either Sabrina or myself without a song request! In fact, ya’ll can put more than one song down. The sky’s the limit folks!

With that service announcement, I leave you with this music video.

Worst Moment Ever

October 24th, 2008 · 6 Comments

People have been sending this to me and I can’t help but make a couple of observations. First, you’ll have to view it.

Observations:

  1. Why do you have to have the ceremony by the pool? It’s a disaster just waiting to happen! I get nervous walking alongside the pool because I can’t trust my own sense of balance!
  2. Respect to the man officiating the wedding! He made the effort to save the bride…too bad she had momentum on her side. Where was the groom?! Update: Upon further review, it was pointed out that the man was actually stooping down to help the best-man that fell. However, as he was stooping down, the bride was already off balance and reached out to grab whatever was in front of her…that happened to be the man’s robe and arm.
  3. The best-man will live in shame…forever. Also, note that the best man tried to grab the brides..ankles?!? I think that may have caused her to stumble more.
  4. Man, think about the bride. She must’ve been pissed off.
  5. Listen to the woman recording…She’s sorta really sad but also sorta laughing about it. Listen. She says “oh no” but the tone she says it in has both a hint of sadness with a hint of self-control so she isn’t busting up in laughter.
